All chart papers are about the same, right?
|
There are literally hundreds of thousands of chart formats world wide. Even for one recorder their may be several thousand variations and modifications available. Of course, with such a wide field of charts out there no one knows them all and no company can stock everything. However, Kokusai can provide almost anything. The first and most obvious step to identifying what you are looking for is a part number. Not for the recorder, but for the chart itself. On circular charts this is found in the center label, for strip charts, both fan fold and roll, it is generally printed on the edge repeated throughout the entire charts. Of course, since many manufacturers make the charts up for special needs of their customers, sometimes the part number is not generally known. In this case, a sample is the best guide. A fax copy may help, but generally, a full sample will be requested. The reason for this is that there are many factors which are all important to the proper operation of a chart. The grid, scale, width, and sprocket holes are just the beginning. For strip charts, a full sample is needed to determine the proper length. For roll charts, the core is needed. On circular charts, the thickness of the chart, surface texture, brightness of the paper, and so on, are all considerations for proper manufacturing. So, chart paper is not so simple. Identification of your chart can be as simple as a part number, but, maybe not.
